How to use your membership

2026 Membership

What’s New? Membership at Sopranojam

Good news — you are automatically enrolled for the same day/time this fall unless you tell us otherwise.

If you plan to discontinue, the deadline to withdraw without charge is June 25, 2026. Please email music@sopranojamstudio.com.

Understanding Your SJMS Membership

At Sopranojam, your child is part of a comprehensive music program, not just weekly lessons. Students grow through:

  • Weekly instruction

  • At‑home practice

  • Crescendo Classes

  • Rehearsals

  • Performances and recitals

  • Summer camp options

  • Summer drop‑in lessons

  • Periodic workshops

This program is the result of decades of teaching experience, designed to give students the strongest musical foundation possible.

Why Membership?

Because music study is ongoing and varied in the types of instruction and experiences, we’re shifting to a membership model beginning July 1, 2026. Instead of “tuition,” you’ll simply be a member of the SJMS community which will give you access to the different types of instruction we offer within your program of study.

What stays the same:

  • You pay one flat monthly fee

  • The fee stays low because it’s spread evenly across the year

  • Scheduled breaks are already factored in — you never “lose” money for weeks off

How Membership Works

Beginning July 1, 2026, your membership includes:

  • Weekly lessons

  • Crescendo Classes

  • Rehearsals & performances

  • Summer camp (select options)

  • Summer drop‑in lessons

  • Periodic workshops (Mini‑camps are not included at this time.)

What Happens Next

If you plan to continue:

You’re all set — no action needed. Your August membership fee ($114) will be charged on July 1.

If you do NOT plan to continue:

Please email music@sopranojamstudio.com by June 25 to avoid the July 1 charge. There are no refunds for late notice.

Transition Note for This Year Only:

  • You will be charged in July, but you will NOT be charged in August

  • Regular monthly billing resumes in September and continues until you request to end your membership

  • If you need a different day/time for your lesson, email music@sopranojamstudio.com.

Important Dates in a nutshell

  • June 25 — Deadline to discontinue without charge

  • July 1 — Membership billing begins (No charge in August this year due to transition)

  • Week of August 10 — Classes begin

  • New students can enroll at any time and will just pick up the membership where they are.

WHAT ARE CRESCENDO CLASSES?

Crescendo Classes are an integral and unique part of SJMS programs. They are "Practice Performance Classes". Learning to perform is a separate skill from learning to play or sing, so we take some time to do that!

Several times per year, students prepare a song to perform for their class. It is intended to provide an opportunity to ease into singing or playing in front of others so that recitals don't feel so scary, but rather, exciting!

Benefits:

It normalizes playing in front of others.

It helps students not only practice a performance but shows them how to prepare and what is expected for a an excellent performance.

It provides a goal! If a student isn't faithfully practicing, Crescendo Class is a great way to incentivize practice!

It gives a feeling of accomplishment!

Requirements:

Students will use the "Recital Sandwich" method any time they perform.

Introduction, Perform, Bow

Students will memorize their introduction and learn to say it with confidence and poise.

Students will memorize their songs on piano and for singing for all performances.

Students will become good audience members and learn good audience etiquette.

Attire:

A step up from what students would normally wear to class is recommended for Crescendo Classes so that their is a distinction in importance. I also believe that we are affected by how we feel about ourselves, so when we dress the part, we often perform more confidently.

Audience:

Sometimes we do invite parents, but generally Crescendo Classes are contained within the normal class schedule or we combine with another class as well.

We find that most students LOVE Crescendo Classes and can't wait to share their songs with their peers, especially after they've done it a few times.
